MUSIC MINISTRY

Purpose

 

The role and spiritual purpose of the choir/music ministry is to lead the congregation in worship, build community, and create a sense of awe and wonder while inspiring their faith.

 

Biblical purposes of music:

• Worship: Music is used to glorify and worship God    

• Praise: Music is used to express thanks and praise to God  

• Rejoicing: Music is used to celebrate and make a joyful noise to the Lord 

• Teaching: Music is used to teach and admonish one another   

• Evangelism: Music is used to spread the word of God and encourage people to trust in Him  

• Preservation of faith: Music is used to pass on God's works and mighty acts from one generation to the next

 

Qualifications

Membership in any of the choirs is strictly voluntary. Each choir member shall display maturity in attitude and action in order to set a good example for all church members and guests.  They should display qualities like teamwork, commitment and a willingness to learn and contribute to the success of the music ministry.  They should support the total program financially, in attendance, participation, and personal growth.

Becoming a Choir Member

 

Only members of First Baptist Church Maddoxtown may be in the choir. Those wanting to join can simply let the Music Director or any choir member know of your desire to join. Formal auditions are not required, only a willing spirit, positive attitude, dedication and commitment to the music ministry and all that it requires.  For more information contact the Music Director.
